YUM! Chocolate Covered Mushroom Cookies!

You all know that my obsession for fun shaped snacks will never end! My latest snack discovery at my local Japanese grocery, Meiji's Kinoko no Yama which are chocolate covered mushroom cookies! Of course they're not actually made out of mushrooms silly goose! They're just shaped like them! I love this snack. I think it's better than the tree stumps and I'm pretty obsessed over those! The cookie stem actually tastes pretty bland in itself when I bit into it. However, the chocolate covered mushroom top makes this snack a winner! The box comes with one bag for $2.79. Sorry guys- I forgot how many was in one bag, but it took me two snack times to finish one box. Super awesome treat and I will definitely indulge again!

Thanks to our friends over at Frank & Jan for hooking me and my homie William Yan with dope tees last week! We appreciate the love! and guess what? I've been wearing my F&J tees two days in a row now and have been receiving quite the compliments!

So if you don't own a F&J tee, I suggest you go cop one now! Better yet, if you want to make your own tees, they offer a screen printing service! Tell em' Aimee sent ya! ;)

P.S. Read their WIT BLOG! It's freakin' hilarious!

Guess Who's Bizzack?!

I'm all for self-growth. Sometimes it's really important to take some time off to reflect on life, prioritize and search for inspiration. My homeboy Jose Perdomo left NY for Florida awhile ago just when I really got to know him. It was really sad to let him go but despite how much I was going to miss him being around I knew it would be for the better. Finally, here he is back in the scene with the birth of his new portfolio cleverly named, alifesupreme.com and finally returning to NY in February. YAY! Peep his talent as he delivers some dope and refreshing eye candy (with more to come I'm sure). Glad to have you back real soon, we f'n missed you! Can't wait to roam the streets with you and the crew once again! Big things for 2010. Thanks for the inspiration as always Josie!

ABSINTHE CANDY? No thank you...

I love wandering in any kind of grocery store or specialty stores simply because I find the weirdest shit ever. This week, my newest discovery is Absinthe Candy by Leone Candy Originals ($3.50 per box). Of course as soon as I saw "Absinth" aka "The Green Fairy" on the box, I was intrigued and had to buy it. What is absinthe exactly? Well, it's an herbal liquor made from anise and wormwood. Long ago in the late 19th and early 20th century it was banned because it was supposedly an addictive drug and a hallucinogenic. I've never drank the alcoholic drink (although I know a place in the city where they serve it), so I opted to try it in candy form.

The candy smells really nice, but tastes really bad! The bitter taste of anise made me gag. It's really bitter and I think this is how flowery soap and a little bit of sugar mixed in is supposed to taste like... in soft chalk form! To be a sport, I tried one until it all dissolved in my mouth... and I will not try another one ever again. In order to like this product, you must have a distinct taste for it. I never say no when it comes to trying new foods, so I think I'll have to try the alcoholic version to distinguish whether I like absinth in itself. Maybe one day.. but for now, I pass on the candy. Definitely not my cup of tea. Cool box though?

Kabaya's Petit Pastel

Ice cream cones always put a smile on my face. :) It's reminiscent of my childhood days when I would be so excited to get a delicious treat from the ice cream truck! Anyway, I found another amazing Japanese snacky food from the grocery recently! Check out Kabaya's Petit Pastel. Aren't they cute? Well it's pretty damn good too! It has a chocolate cone with a disguised chocolate covered malt ball as the ice cream scoop. Jeez how ironic? Shouldn't it be the other way around as it should taste as it looks? Hmm.. Petit Pastel comes in different colors but it pretty much tastes the same. Kabaya just used food coloring to be fancy. You would imagine it would taste like Whoppers but it doesn't. It tastes like a bite sized Kit-Kat ball (yeah, they used to make those or still do?) with a little bit more chocolate on each bite. Each cone is pretty addicting because I found myself easily popping these bite sized treats by the second! A box comes with a pack of 2 containing 10 pieces of the chocolate ice cream treats per pack. Cheap too! It's less than $2.50 at your local Japanese Grocery!

Happy Birthday Jay-Z!

Happy Born Day Jay-Z! I always loved Hov. Out of all the rappers, I must say I've been to his concerts the most and always left satisfied. 1996 was a great year for me because that's when the Reasonable Doubt album dropped (one of my faves of all time). Super classic album in my opinion. You can listen to it over and over without getting tired of it. I applaud you Hovito for making great music and for also growing as an artist as the years progress and for still being able to connect with your fans.

Saw my homie William Yan ask this question via twitter:

and it goes a little something like this:
1. "Can't Knock the Hustle"
2. "Brooklyn's Finest"
3. "Dirt Off Your Shoulder"
4. "Ain't No N*gga"
5. "Big Pimpin'"
6. "Dead Presidents"
7. "Feelin' It"
8. "I Just Wanna Love You"
9. "Nigga What, Nigga Who (Originator 99)" If you use to follow the DJ scene, A-Trak did a classic beat juggle with this beat! It was insane!
10. "Song Cry"

Notice most of these joints are from the Reasonable Doubt album? I got sooo many more favorites but that's my 10 for now. I can really go on if you want me to... :P

MESSAGE TO JAY-Z: Even though it wasn't pleasant meeting you at Santos, I forgive you. LOL

I saw this on my twin Tamrock's facebook page and had to blog it!

All I can say is WOW. Are you serious? Eminem Air Jordan IV's?! In MY SIZE?! (Well I'm really a size 5Y in Boys, but i'll make a 4.5Y fit like a glove). BANANAS! Does anyone want to buy this for me for Christmas? It's only around $2,100 right now. LOL! I wonder what the winning auction price will be? There's only 3 days left if you're seriously interested!

I'm stuck on Lady Gaga! Seriously, she's just freaking awesome! Gaga is just simply groundbreaking. I lovelovelove her theatrical performances (VMA's) and music videos (like all of them!?). Her fashion style? INSANE! Did you see her rocking the Alexander McQueen "Armadillo" 10 inch heels in the "Bad Romance" video?!? (cues in "walk.. walk.. fashion baby, work it.. move! that bitch cr-azy..") Oh, not to mention she made out with my Viking, Alexander Skarsgard in the "Paparazzi" video and then poisoned him! Her vision is just different and out of this world. It seems that she is often misunderstood but she has her reasons (watch "On The Record: Lady Gaga" on Fuse). Lady Gaga is a super innovative artist and she's definitely what's hot. This chick is kind of crazy but I really like it! Who isn't considered crazy nowadays anyway? Modern day Madonna? I think so! Lady Gaga is the epitome of pop culture right now. The Fame Monster album is currently in rotation on my iPod. ALL 8 songs = CRACK! You did not disappoint me Gaga! LOVE! Sorry for sounding like the crazy Lady Gaga cheerleader.. LOL

Check her out in Elle Magazine's January 2010 cover too! She's a freak bitch baby!
LINK: Elle

Peep my homeboy Robin's post, Stefani Germanotta: Pre-Lady Gaga to see a throwback performance during Gaga's NYU days. She was amazing before and after.

P.S. Do you dig her Rei Kawakubo hair? I do!

Happy Anniversary Lanvin!

Was reading WWD this morning and came across this on page 7! Peep the Lanvin x La Poste 120th Anniversay stamp! Dope! It's designed by artistic director, Alber Elbaz to be released early next year. What a great collabo to commemorate the oldest French couture house! I think I need a Parisian pen pal...

As I read Bram Stoker's book, Dracula (thanks Tre), I wanted to get into the groove by thinking of vampire or Dracula related hip-hop songs. Remember "Dracula's Wedding" by Andre 3000 featuring Kelis from the Outkast album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below? This joint is awesome! I love the vampire references: haunted castle, fangs, heartbeat, 'biting the right one', meeting the sun, stake, silver bullet, immortality, Van Helsing, even Count Dracula! If you haven't heard it, give it a listen! It's pretty catchy.

Here's a 30 second snippet of the song:

Draculas Wedding (Feat. Kelis) - Andre 3000

The sequel, Dracula: The Undead then Dracula the movie is next for me!

Burst the Bubble On Fashion Fakes!

As I was walking to the Post Office yesterday, I passed by this awesome window display made by Visual Students from LIM College titled, "Burst the Bubble On Fashion Fakes" on 209 W. 38th St. between 7th & 8th Aves. What better way to make a statement on counterfeit goods and fashion knock offs than with the iconic and most sought after Chanel brand? Check out the Chanel Tweed Suit and Classic Bags made out of bubble wrap. Awesome! The display will be up until December 16th, check it out if you're around the Garment district!

Meiji's Pucca in Banana and Milk Flavor

I can't stop going to the Japanese Grocery Store! Every time I go, I always find weird snacks to try. Found this one last week, Meiji's Pucca Chocolate Fish shaped biscuit with Banana and Milk filling! It has a pretty interesting taste- like a milky banana creamy kind of like banana pie and a hint of chocolate? I was surprised that the banana flavor wasn't too overwhelming which is great. I enjoyed the snack because I like the taste of bananas but it kind of leaves a funky after taste. I have a feeling the strawberry and milk chocolate version tastes better! Well at least I tried it. :P Find it at your local Japanese Grocery Store for about $2 for a pack!

Happy NEW MOON Day! 11.20.09

Happy New Moon Day to all the Twi-hards out there! I know some of you lucky people were able to view the first screening last night! I'm somewhat jelz. Well.. how was it?! I honestly can't wait to watch it myself but I think I'll wait a few days until the hype dies down. I want it to be quiet when I watch the flick so that I can focus on sexy ass R.Patz all googly eyed and stuff! Too much talking in the theatres annoy the crap out of me. I saw a few comments via Twitter that Team Jacob is taking over. Is that true? Well well.. I guess I'll find out when I get to watch it soon. Twilight Runs This Town Tonight!

I've Been Trying to Chase You Cupcake Stop!

I've been trying to chase @CupcakeStop for about a month now via Twitter. I always end up missing them whenever I'm near their location or they seem to run out of cupcakes! So yesterday on the way to Tamrock's Birthday Dinner, I FINALLY ran into the truck accidentally. I was so psyched! Even though I'm suppose to be on a diet and was saving my calories for my soul food dinner that evening, I JUST HAD TO. It was so hard to say no- I finally have my chance! So I got three delicious mini cupcakes for $1 each. What? I needed variety! It's only right. This was a long time coming, so you best believe I was going to go in on these teeny and scrumptious treats!

My Threesome:
Left to Right: Cream Cheese Brownie, Vanilla Chocolate and Gingerbread Spice

All I have to say is out of the three, the Cream Cheese Brownie was the BEST! Why? It has the texture of a chewy Chocolate Brownie in mini cupcake form and then the Cream Cheese frosting is KILLER! So amazing! My second favorite was Gingerbread Spice just because the taste was so exotic and perfect since Thanksgiving is next week. The Vanilla frosting with the Gingerbread cake was a really good combination! Then my last favorite is the Vanilla Chocolate just because it's one of my favorite cupcake combos of all time.

Overall, I love how their frosting is not too soft. Even though it's considered a mini, it's slightly bigger than regular mini's compared to the ones I make at home or the ones I get from Baked by Melissa. This definitely won't be the last time that I will indulge. Can't wait to see you again Cupcake Stop!

or follow @CupcakeStop on Twitter for their location and daily specials!

P.S. Thanks to the cupcake guy for giving me another mini because I dropped one by accident. I was carrying too many things! That was really sweet of you. Just to let you know, two minutes later I dropped my G10 camera because I thought I was going to drop one mini on the floor again. However, do not to fret- now my camera has a battle scar that will always remind me of my first experience at Cupcake Stop! ;)

Sorry for the lack of posts! It's been a busy week! With that being said, it was my little whoadie Tamrock's Birthday yesterday and we celebrated at one of my favorite soul food spots, Pink Tea Cup. Happy Birthday Tambee, Tamrock, Tambourine, Tamarind, Twin Sheeshburger, The Vampire's Assistant, OBB, OG Fall Gang '07 leader (cuz 'We da BEST'), Ninja Turtle, Ms. 505 Fly, BM'press!

Happy Birthday Twin! xoxo, Aimbee :)

I Want a Mouse From TheHouseOfMouse!

I was browsing around etsy for holiday gift ideas and ran into TheHouseOfMouse shop! A woman named Anna from the Netherlands makes each and everyone of these super adorable handmade mice! It's very detailed and just seeing them all puts a smile on my face. Each is individually crafted with felt, silks, ribbon, beads- you name it! They all stand approximately at 2.5" tall. Since I am into fashion, vampires and zombies- here are my favorite picks from her shop:

Karl Lagermouse

Abercrombie the Zombie Mouse

I soo want them all! Prices range from $25-75. What a perfect gift idea! ;) Hmm, I wonder if she would take a request to make a Michael Jackson Mouse!

Mmm... Chocolate Tree Stumps!

There's just something with me and food in bizarre shapes and form! Check out my new Japanese treat, Kikori no Kirikabu (Chocolate Tree Stump Cookies). Remember my old post on Chocolate Hamburgers? Well move over Burger! Meet the new kid in town! SOO good! It's self explanatory- milk chocolate stump and cookie core. I think I like this better than Every Burger because there's more chocolate when you bite into it and no sesame seed after taste. It cost me $2.29 comes in a pack of two with each pack containing 12 tree stumps (I ate one before I took the pic, SORRY I couldn't resist)! Cop it at your local  Japanese Grocery! DEELISH!

Oh, and don't you just love the Japanese lumber jack and his little bunny?! Adorable! :P

Happy 40th Birthday Sesame Street! :)

Today marks Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary! Happy Birthday Big Bird!  As a present, Google decided to feature members of the gang for a week long count down celebration on their "Google Doodle" which is the image that you see on the search engine's homepage. How awesome! Besides Batibot (Filipino version of Sesame Street), I grew up watching Sesame Street. Always loved Bert & Ernie, Snuffalufagus, Elmo, Grover, Count Dracula, Oscar and my super favorite, Slimy the Worm. Ahh, the good old days where I wish I can go back and just be a kid again. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SESAME STREET! :)

Want to see more of the Sesame Street "Google Doodle," click here.

Also saw these super cute Sesame Street cotton tees with sock liner sleeves from the Morfs Brand Website and via Barney's Holiday Mailer Catalog for the little kiddies!
