MEOW!

I'm always on the search for great eye wear. Went to my optician, Anthony Aiden and discovered these amazing cat eye specs from a French brand name, Anne et Valentin. These frames are super stylish and just retro cool. When I tried them on, they fit like a glove (which means I didn't have a gap between the bridge of the glasses and my button Asian nose). The temple of the glasses are curved for comfort. I just love how the glasses in itself looks chunky yet it doesn't look so overwhelming on the face. Its geometric looking frame is what originally caught my eye. Aren't these cat eye glasses just awesome? Priced at approximately $480.

Gold & Wood - B10 Frames

Dropped by Morgenthal Frederics on West Broadway this week and saw my dream frames- the B10 by Gold & Wood. These aren't just any pair of eyeglasses- it's made out of wood, well-crafted, rare, and extremely unique! When I tried the black on black pair on, I fell in love. It fits my round face very well and the actual frames did not look too big like most retro looking pairs of glasses that I've tried on. The base of the temples are made out of titanium and adjusts to the width of your face. What I love most however is how the bridge of the glasses sit perfectly on the bridge of my nose. Since I have a button nose, most glasses I try on have that annoying gap which can only be fixed with the addition of ugly nose pads. The rim of the glasses also do not sit on my cheek and are a perfect size. It can also be converted into sunglasses if you don't wear prescription glasses. My first choice is the black on black and then the black on brown for contrast. Does anyone want to buy these for me? It's only $1,100 (not including cost of lens)! >:)

A Serious Man = Some Serious Eye Wear

Finally saw A Serious Man, the latest film from the Coen Bros and I must admit, that movie got my brain all frazzled but in a very good way. I love movies that make me think and movies that give me a chance to formulate my own ending. If you want to know what I mean, I advise you to watch the movie because it's pretty amazing! Anyway, I couldn't help fall in love with some serious eye wear through out the film. Since the movie was set in the Midwest around 1967, the characters were wearing an array of retro specs. Loved them all! Check them out:

Miscellaneous Characters throughout the movie with awesome eye glasses

After seeing such great eye wear, I'm about to throw out my contact lenses and go back to wearing glasses! After all, people remember me as the short Asian girl with the glasses (and no folks, I am not Charlene Yi although we might look slightly alike.. hehe). Costume designer, Mary Zophres did an excellent job picking out specs for all the characters. Also on another note, I read somewhere that each set of glasses were made with two different lenses- one which was clear and another that is anti-reflective and coated which were alternated based on lighting. Sweet! Something I would have never known. There must have been a lot of glasses floating around the set. Are you feeling the retro specs? I sure am! :)
